A WOMAN who has survived three heart attacks is urging couples to take part in a special service to help a cardiac centre.

Sue McDonald, 40, of Keyes Close, Oakwood, wants Warrington couples to take advantage of the most romantic day of the year - Valentine's Day - to reaffirm their wedding vows.

The idea is to help raise £3.5 million for the Merseybeat Appeal.

Sue's commitment to the charity, based at The Cardiothoracic Centre, Liverpool, is a way of saying thank-you for the care she received.

"In particular, couples who met on Valentine's Day or who may have a heart problem, would be especially welcome to renew their vows," said Sue, aged 40.

"The link between Valentine's Day and hearts should not be wasted," she said.

Sue is working alongside Christine Quinn, Merseybeat Appeal fundraising manager, to raise money over the next five years which will fund new research into ways of beating heart disease.

Conducted by the Reverend Alan Litton, a ceremony is to take place at Newchurch Parish Church, Church Lane, Culcheth, on Sunday, February 14, at 2.30pm. It will be followed by a celebration reception at the New Inn.

To take part in the event, contact Sue McDonald on 481463.
