EDUCATION chiefs in Warrington say they are prepared for new Government rules which will see school names changing later this year.
The categories schools come under will change over the next few months, meaning the loss of the word "County" from their titles.
Schools in Warrington will become "Community" schools, meaning a massive change to everything from signs to stationery.
Head of Education at Warrington Borough Council, Malcolm Roxburgh said: "All the schools formerly known as county schools have to change by September 1.
"The line we are taking is that stationery changes when it is re-ordered, so we don't waste money.
"As far as the signs are concerned, we deliberately did not go around changing them when the council changed to unitary status last April, because we knew this was going to happen.
"The new signs will reflect the changes in Warrington as well as the name change. A lot of them are faded anyway, and need to be replaced."
The programme of changing the school signs will continue over the next few months.
