FIREFIGHTERS were called to Warrington Hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday after electrical faults sparked two fire alerts.
Both incidents started in light fittings. The first took place when a small fire broke out in an operating theatre, just before surgery was due to take place. Medics delayed the op momentarily until fire crews gave the all-clear.
The second incident took place on Wednesday morning when a fluorescent light overheated in the orthopaedic department. Around 15 staff were evacuated while firefighters removed the light fitting. No patients were in the area at the time.
