A FORMER Earlestown resident has a son 'down under' who is desperately trying to contact him or any remaining family and friends.

Peter Stewart, of Bunbury, West Australia has discovered that the birth registration details of his father, Mr Charles Herbert Williams, were recorded in Newton.

After some detective work, Peter has found that his father was born on May 29, 1903 to Herbert John Williams of Everton and his wife, who was known as Marion Elizabeth Davies from Bradford.

Joining the Royal Navy in June 1921, Charles was later seconded to the Royal Australian Navy in April 1929, stationed in Sydney and Melbourne. His naval career ended in May 1938 after he went to New Zealand and he has not been seen or heard of since.

Peter has never known any of his England living relatives and said: "Although my father has in all probability long departed, I would be keen to know of the existence of any uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. His family and relatives may also be interested to learn of the existence of children and grandchildren."

If you have any information or know someone who does, please contact Suzanne Elsworth at the GUARDIAN on 01925 434109, where it will be passed on to Mr Stewart.
