The closure of SK8 Madness will in some way involve us all. As a Winsford mother of a "dedicated blader" who lives and breathes "grinding, Air, Misty" etc. this is a devastating blow.

Will my child now be skating in the empty car parks and jumping off any steps he can find?

At SK8 Madness he could do all this in the dry and safety of supervision.

The council have said they have no interest in re-opening the skate park as a funded venture - but where are these kids to go . . . the town centre, the pavements, the car parks?

I know how fast skaters go and it is quite daunting to see them approach you.

But let's not just blame the kids, I urge anyone who skates, and the people who want skaters off the streets to write to the council.

Our children need a place to go.

It's a lot more popular than you may think. My son skated approximately 20 hours a week - just at SK8 Madness.

I don't want him skating 20 hours on the street.

Only we can change the attitudes of the council towards what our children need, and they need to skate in safety.
