He is believed to have been disheartened by the arrival of Nathan Comley-Excell on loan from Altrincham. Director of football John Bond said: "Neither Eddie (Bishop) or myself were happy with Mike's workrate. He had ability but he wasn't right for Witton."
His departure means Albion could struggle to field a team tomorrow, Thursday against Droylsden due to five players cup-tied for the Division One Cup. Bishop, Faulkner and Lloyd will step in for Garforth, Cox and Gleghorn.
