West Bank Bears u11s 10

Pilkington Rec u11s 10

A TREMENDOUS battle ended with the spoils being shared.

Excellent tackling by both teams made it an exciting game to watch.

The Bears conceded a silly try in the first-half which wasn't converted, but bounced back with a powerful try from Danny Holt and converted by Craig Tunstead.

Mom, Craig Tunstead put another four points on Pilks, but the Bears were unlucky to have another try disallowed.

A half-time lead then of 10-4.

The second-half was played with as much vigour as the first but saw Pilks draw level.

The Bears were again unlucky as top tackler JP Ainsworth crossed just before the final whistle, but the referee adjudged this one to be a double movement.

A much improved game by Ian Dyas earned him player of the week.

Halton Hornets Moorefield u8s 44

A VERY high scoring game which was a credit to both teams, saw Hornets edge home against a Bears team which never gave up.

Try scorers were Prendergast, Nelson (3), Fraser (2), Smith, Ogburn and Siemienowski (3) who continues to improve with every game.

These were well supported by Mom, Holland, Heyes and Ogburn, while in defence Bamber, Ellison and Hamlett stood out.

Highlights of the game were two long-range tries, a solo effort from Jake Fraser and a combination effort between Adam Prendergast and Danny Nelson.

Tackle wise there were several try-savers from several players while Warren Hamlett put in a couple of bone-shakers.

However, this was a game in which all the boys played their part to overcome a much-improved West Bank team.
