Norton 1 Old Transporter 1

THIS league fixture was the fifth time these two sides have met this season - the Tranny winning all four previous games.

The game was hard-fought with both sides giving no quarter in their push for a victory. The first-half was played out with both defences on top and very few scoring chances created. The game sparked into life when, from a long ball, Kev ward ran through to give Norton the lead.

The Tranny pushed more players forward in an effort to pull the game back but were always vulnerable to Norton's counter-attacks.

With Norton packing their defence it seemed like they would hold out for the victory, but with five minutes to go after three corners in a row, Gary Coadey scored direct from a corner to equalise.

With time running out Norton packed midfield and defence to hold the result with Tranny unable to break them down.

St Andrews 4 Bridge Timber 2

A BELOW par performance by Bridge Timber saw them exit the Bob Orme Challenge Cup competition at the quarter-final stage.

They got off to a promising start being awarded a penalty after 15 minutes which Colin Ellis cooly slotted home.

But the home side drew level ten minutes later and then took the lead just before half-time.

Bridge bounced back in the second-half thanks to a Ritchie Jones' effort but St Andrews scored again minutes later.

With the game at 3-2, any hopes Bridge had of snatching an equaliser were dashed when, with a minute to go, St Andrews scored a fourth to give them a well-deserved place in the semi-finals.
