Warrington Borough 1 Middlewich Town 1

Mid-Cheshire League

MIDDLEWICH collected their seventh point from their third away game on the run, and it was thanks to an individual effort by man of the moment Les Miranda.

Town's goal came on the half hour when Steve Moss, played a defence splitting ball which was helped on by Melia, and Miranda hit his shot first time to put Middlewich one up.

Warrington who were fielding five first team players to try and save them from reflection, started to get to grips with the game and only some fine goalkeeping by Coleman, and some stout defending by Mick Jump kept them at bay.

The second half brought much the same as the first with Town playing on the counter attack, Melia going close on a couple of occasions, but Warrington were playing the better football and were rewarded with 20 minutes remaining.

Steve Olliver lost possession in midfield, Nicholson mis-timed his tackle and Hamil was in the clear, and he rounded Coleman to put the home side on level terms.

Warrington were now looking to take all three points which would ease their relegation worries, but Middlewich held out for a well earned point.

Man of the Match Steve Moss.
