STOCKSBRIDGE PS 2
WITTON 1
A CARBON copy of the Roy Keane goal which started Manchester United's comeback in Turin was the highlight of a dour match played in rather different surroundings.
Gary Hurlstone glanced a near post cross into the far corner to put Stocksbridge two up on 57 minutes and give Witton too much to do.
They had gone behind through a disputed goal by Wayne Biggins three minutes into first half injury time. Biggins threw himself at a left wing cross and appeared to knock the ball in with his hand. But the assistant referee was unsighted and the goal stood.
Witton could have been three down inside the break after surviving a first half penalty scare when Lee Anderson handled. They finally got into gear three minutes after the home side's second when Charlie Boyd's 30 yard drive was deflected past the 'keeper.
Lee Cox, Nathan Comley-Excell and David Anane all went close in the final stages, but it was too little, too late.
