Mid Cheshire Sunday League.

THATCHED Tavern may end the season without winning a cup, but they should take the Mid Cheshire Sunday League title.

A goal from Platt was good enough to give Egerton a 1-0 win against Thatch in Sunday's League Cup final at Barton Stadium.

But by then, Thatch's grip on the title had strengthened considerably, courtesy of a 3-2 midweek win at Oaklands which came as Egerton could only manage a draw with Denbigh.

Thatch's win, thanks to strikes from Nutting, Killey and Edwards, puts them above last week's leaders Pockets on goal difference and with seven games to play, three of them midweek fixtures this week. Egerton are three points behind but with only three games left.

Dragon Oakfield sealed second place in Division One with a 9-1 demolition of Kingsley. Eight players got on the scoresheet, with Swift scoring twice.

Knutsford's White Bear sealed the Division Three title with a 10-0 drubbing of Farmers Arms, Mellor hitting five. That win consigned Middlewich's White Bear to second spot, despite their 3-0 win at Plumley Celtic.

But the week's top scorers were Mobberley Rangers who proved unluckly opposition for Ring o Bells in the Supplementary Cup. They won 13-2, with Perks netting eight.
