VALE Royal's mayor Keith Musgrave ended his charity appeal on a high this week - after his Civic Ball raised £1,800.

At the ball, which was held at Vale Royal Abbey in Whitegate, Clr Musgrave was joined by 180 guests, including Northwich MP Mike Hall, and civic heads from other borough councils. The highlight of the night was an auction of gifts donated by the stars. A shirt signed by England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen went for £100, with £40 being paid for a shirt signed by Aston Villa goalkeeper Mike Oakes, £40 for a suit donated by Matthew Kelly, and £85 for jackets donated by Radio One DJs Mark and Lard. Clr Musgrave said: "I would like to say a really big thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a success."
