POLICE are still looking for a breakthrough in their investigation into the murder of a Hale man gunned down at a Speke industrial complex on Friday morning.

Anthony Sinnott, of Arklow Drive, was shot dead on open ground near to the MTL bus depot at Shaw Road industrial estate at around 5.30am.

A man who was with Sinnott ran to the bus depot to raise the alarm with drivers who were just arriving for the early shift.

Police and ambulance crew were called but the 40-year-old father, who had been shot in the head several times, died in hospital later that day.

The killer's getaway car, a grey Fiesta XR2, was later found abandoned in Speke.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said investigators were keeping "an open mind" on possible motives for the killing.

She said they had yet to find out what Mr Sinnott, who worked in security, had been doing on the industrial estate at that hour of the morning.

He had been with his family earlier the previous evening but his movements after 8pm were as yet unknown.
