A MAN was jailed for two years at Warrington Crown Court on Friday for indecently assaulting a drunken 15-year-old girl as she was walking home.

Michael Martley, 21, of Kershaw Street, Widnes, admitted indecent Assault and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders register for 10 years.

Simon Mills, prosecuting, said the 15-year-old girl had been to Widnes town centre with some friends and got very drunk.

She was walking home after missing her bus and met Martley who offered to walk her home.

The pair started kissing in an alley and became "passionate".

The girl undressed herself and Martley tried to have sex with her.

They stopped, however, when the girl started being sick.

Martley offered to walk her home but when she continued to vomit he left her.

It was not until a woman out walking her dog "fell over" the girl and paid for a taxi to take her home that she revealed she thought she had been raped.

Martley saw the area taped off the next day and, fearing the girl had somehow died, called at the police station and told officers about meeting the girl.

He did not say they had been intimate but when he was arrested a week later, he made full admissions.

Gerald Jones, defending, said Martley put himself in the hands of police, even if embarrassment and shame prevented him from revealing the full details.

He deeply regretted his actions.
