KEEN walker Ellen Matthews is hoping local people will help her raise money as she tackles a 100km hike.
Ellen, from Shavington, is setting off next September to hike along the Inca Trail to the lost city of Machu Picchu.
The trip has been organised by Scope and all the money will go towards the charity's work for cerebral palsy.
Ellen is one of 75 people taking part in the six day hike along the trail which is four times higher than Snowdon.
While she is confident about the walking she is hoping for help raising the sponsorship.
She needs to raise £2,500 through sponsorship and donations and her first £50 was donated by Salon Supplies of Underwood Lane.
"I used to work with people with disabilities before retiring and when I heard about this I applied and was accepted," said Ellen.
"I don't know how many people applied but I am in the last group and I replied within 24 hours.
"I am a keen walker and I'm quite fit so I'm more worried about raising the money."
Anyone who can help is asked to call 569497.
