WOOLSTON Rovers' ex-Great Britain Under 18s hooker has joined Widnes this week on a 15-months contract.
Mike Briggs, the former BARLA National Youth League Player of the Year, was asked to sign for the Northern Ford Premiership club straight after his superb performance for their reserve team against Leeds last week.
But he put pen to paper on the contract on Monday and Vikings boss Colin Whitfield is delighted with his catch, who had several outings with Warrington's Alliance team last year.
Widnes' gain is Woolston's loss on the eve of the new National Conference season.
