TWO Warrington Snooker League aces come head-to-head on Sunday for a

showdown to decide who will have the priviledge of playing against legendary Jimmy White.

Alford Hall's Darren Shaw and Penketh Cons' Matt Daniels will go to battle over five frames to settle the GUARDIAN Cup final at Snookers Social Centre, adjacent to Warrington Rugby League Club.

The winner will represent the town in a one-frame special with world snooker star Jimmy White to kick off a brilliant night of cue action at the Parr Hall on October 31.

White will then play seven frames of exhibition snooker with John Virgo in front of a packed audience. Tickets for the event will be on sale soon.

But Shaw and Daniels are keen to be part of the entertainment that night, and not just admiring onlookers.

Shaw says: "It would mean everything to me to play against Jimmy. I have always wanted to play against him.

"The way he plays is special. His fluency and his break-building stand out.

"But first of all I have to beat Matt. He's a good player and I think it will be a tight final."

Daniels, who also qualified for the final from heats a fortnight ago, says: "I'm looking forward to the final and playing against Darren. We used to practice together but that was a few years ago.

"If we are both on top form then I think it will be a close affair but I know I will have to play well to beat him.

"And of course I would love to go on and play Jimmy at the Parr Hall, who wouldn't?

"Jimmy has always been the people's champion. I have enjoyed watching him play but I am sure it will be a million times better to play against him."

There will be trophies for the winner, runner-up and semi-finalists of the GUARDIAN Cup competition after the final. And there will be a prize for the highest break too, which currently stands at 55 by Shaw.
