A FRUITY group made the journey from Coventry to Crewe last week in search of a good home.

The100,000 apples were available from a European surplus similar to the butter mountain.

Keith Boughey, the borough council voluntary sector liaison officer soon got busy on the phone to find a vehicle for 60 boxes of apples and they were taken to the 3Cs HQ in Crewe.

Rainbow House, the Women's Refuge, Round and About in Maw Green, Our House and the Leighton Centre were among the places which received a share in the apples available.
