OAKMERE found their form again after a disappointing display against Mere last week but couldn't finish off a spirited rearguard action from Pott Shrigley.

Batting first in their First Division match at Overdale Lane, Oakmere's openers struggled to get off the mark.

Adam Foy's solid 39 steadied the Oakmere ship but it wasn't until Peter Hutchinson and Chris Jacques put on a sixth wicket stand of 102 that they began to look in control.

A mixture of youthful exuberance and confident batting from Hutchinson saw him make a superb 71 not out while veteran bowler Jacques kept his head to make a steady 31, steering them to 185-7.

Oakmere went after Pott Shrigley's batsmen with Andy Norton (3-58) and Jacques (2-22) taking wickets but the visitors hung on for the draw at 138-7.

Mere claimed their second Northwich scalp within a week as they crushed Weaverham.

The visitors made 175-4 before declaring but Weaverham couldn't respond and were bowled out for 91.

Third placed Mere had hammered Oakmere a week earlier.

Davenham consolidated their mid-table position in Division Two with a victory at Sandbach.

Sam Shepherd was the pick of the batsmen with 55 as Davenham went on to make a reachable 124 all out.

Dave Holden's bowling stopped the home side in their tracks as he helped Davenham reduce Sandbach to 101 all out with a fine bowling display.

He ended with figures of 4-40 to seal a good win for Davenham, allowing them to leapfrog Sandbach and move up the league.

Barnton continue to struggle at the bottom of the league and a defeat at Bowdon Vale allowed fellow strugglers Malpas and Woodford close the gap between them.

Barnton made 88 all out and Bowdon made few mistakes as they coasted to 90-2 to take the points.
