OULTON didn't look as though they were missing captain and lead bowler Andy McIlroy as they destroyed Upton in their First Division game.

McIlroy is leading an MCC tour party to Portugal for the next three matches but Dave Tattersall stepped into his boots to put in an excellent off-spin bowling display.

Tattersall took 6-36 in a 17 over spell to help Oulton to a well earned victory.

The Little Budworth men had started brightly as wicketkeeper Neil Moss claimed the first wicket with a smart run out before reckless shots saw Upton collapse to 110-7.

Upton skipper Peter Clark lead by example and frustrated the Oulton attack as he made 41 to steer Upton to 189.

An outstanding display from Grant Long with the bat soon put Oulton in control of the game.

He confidently smashed fours around the ground on his way to making an unbeaten 82. Long's partnerships of 71 with John Davies (30) and 78 with Steve Yates (41 n/o) allowed the home side to coast to victory with 14 overs to spare.

Division Two promotion hopefuls Tattenhall proved too strong for Winnington Park in their match at the Recreation Ground.

Park lost the toss and were put into bat on a rain affected wicket with disasterous consequences.

Only James Lewis (33) and James Bunby (44) managed to get to grips with the difficult track as Park's wickets tumbled, eventually being dismissed for 148.

Tattenhall were never going to have trouble reaching the total as the wicket began to dry out, but a spirited effort by Park's attack made them work hard for the win.

Daniel Leech was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-67 as Tattenhall passed the total with six wickets in hand.
