LOSTOCK couldn't match opponents Garswood United Reserves for determination or strength as they slipped to their third defeat of the season.

Garswood dominated midfield and controlled the majority of the first half as Lostock failed to get a grip on the game.

Despite their superiority, the visitors were fortunate to go in front early on when Peter Priestly bundled the ball past Graham Wyatt with what appeared to be his hand.

Lostock went close through Mark Plant and Tony Rogers but Garswood's direct approach soon paid off again as they stretched their lead in the 35th minute when Steve Starr finished off a move started by Priestly.

A reorganised Lostock started the second half brightly and began to win more possesion and take control of the game.

Karl and Tony Rogers had shots well saved while Plant shot wide before Lostock made the breakthrough shortly after the hour mark.

Garswood failed to clear Grant Howman's cross from the left and the ball fell to Tony Rogers, who shot from the edge of the area to score.

Lostock: Wyatt, Carter, Peers, Gibbon, Noden, Howman, T. Rogers, Lightfoot, Plant, K. Rogers, Escott. Subs: Crawford, Aleks, Fallows.
