DON'T struggle alone, help is at hand for mums and dads trying to bring up families on their own.

Halton now has three New Deal for lone parent advisers - Jane Gouma, Julie Hall and Susan Steele.

They are waiting to help and advise you in the job centres in Rutland House beside Halton Lea, Bridgewater in the Old Town and in Widnes Road.

New Deal for lone parents offers a route not just to earning more cash but also give you a chance to learn new skills, develop your confidence and have a break from home and the children.

"Research has indicated that 90 per cent of lone parents would like to work," said Jane Gouma, Widnes' adviser.

"This is a voluntary programme to help people make that decision."

Benefit advice has always been available but these new personal advisers can look at all the aspects of work and benefits.

Runcorn adviser Julie Hall added: "If a lone parent needs training to enhance their skills and help with childcare, we can look at that."

Help is also available for travelling expenses to any meetings they arrange.

If you are a lone parent on income support, you can call free for further details and to make an appointment on 0800 783 9579.
