ROCKSAVAGE power station is hoping to open a new visitor centre.

The building will look like a traditional log cabin and open from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Schoolchildren will be able to see how a power station works at the proposed visitor centre in Low Hey Lane, Runcorn.

The surrounding area is to be landscaped and will include a nature trail.

The proposed development is within the consultation distance of the hazardous installation occupied by ICI's Rocksavage site.

The Heath and Safety Executive has advised against granting approval on safety grounds.

Council officers are currently discussing their objections.
