Pictures of two men robbing King Street's Cheshire Building Society were captured on CCTV camera and will be shown next Tuesday December 21 at 7.30pm.

A researcher at Granada's crimefile department said it was a good video of the robbers.

"The quality of shot should mean a good public response," she said. The pictures - released by the police yesterday - show the two men walking into the building society at 3.25pm on December 3.

One of the men, speaking in a Liverpudlian accent, asks: 'Where's the money?'

He immediately vaults the counter as two women cashiers flee to the back office.

He is then seen stuffing £10 and £20 notes into a bag before both men walk calmly out into King Street.

Last week's raid - during which £12,000 is believed to have been stolen - is the second robbery at the town centre building society in four months.

But yesterday (Tuesday) Detective Inspector Tim Burchill said police were not connecting the two robberies.

Police describe the two men, involved in last week's raid, as in their late teens to early 20s.

The first man is 5ft 10in, slim with a scarred complexion. He wore a flapped baseball cap, maroon jacket and jeans.

The second man is dark, stocky and wore a blue Nike cap navy jacket and tracksuit trousers.
