GOLDEN Lion ended ESMA's 16-match unbeaten record in Grappenhall Darts League.

Lion, in third place in the league, upset leaders ESMA by taking a 5-0 lead. Their top marksmen were S. Tatlock, 16, N. Johnson, 14, D. Williams, 21, G. Noon, 20 and B. Heaton, 20 darts.

After the break ESMA won through G. Haglyn, 22 and J. Davies, 20 darts. But Lion came back again when P. Parky won in 15 darts for a 6-3 victory.

GYCA lost out 3.5-5.5 against Pick after Les Hailey drew with Geoff Illidge in 16 darts.

Eric Llewellyn won in 17 for a 1.5-.5 lead for GYCA but the half-time score was 2.5-2.5. After the break Pick stormed to victory with Rob Ocego, 21, their best.

Barn Owl saw off Greenalls 5-4 with R. Norcott, 16, H. Billinge, 19 and R. Stoll, 21, their best throwers. R. Hepper, 16, A. Yates, 19 and M. Lyons, 19, brought the score back to 3-3 but Greenalls lost, having only eight players.

J. Dobson, 28, was top man for ESMB as they lost 7-2 to Farmers. B. Stoll, 1,6 was best for Farmers.

Man of the match was Jim Smith for GTLA in their 8-1 win over Manor.

GTLB beat Star 6-3 after going into a 4-1 lead thanks to Clive John, 19, Neil Earnshaw, 20 and Albert Cunningham, 20 darts. P. Marsland won in 17 darts for Star.

Bridge were below par against Bull. The first two games were drawn but Bull won the next four games to make the score 1-5 through Norm Jackson, 15 and Derek Rowles, 21 darts. Best for Bridge was Pete Nolan, 26 darts.

Lymm Legion beat Mulberry 5.5-3.5 with John Entwistle, 22, their top man. Tom Jackson drew with Dave Melborne in 24 darts and Chris Savory was best for Mul in 21.
