ENGLAND international Jon Roper has ended speculation over his future at Warrington Wolves by pledging to stay with the club for another year.

Roper had been linked with a move to Castleford and most recently was lined up as part of a swap deal with Huddersfield-Sheffield Giants.

But Wolves boss Darryl Van de Velde has managed to secure his services for another Super League season.

"I'm pleased to have kept him here because we needed a bit more depth in the backs," said Van de Velde.

"It's going to be a big year for him and he needs to work very hard because it's only a one-year contract and I didn't think last season was his best.

"But the first team won't be picked on how players performed last season. It will be based on how they have done in training."

Winger Mark Forster is also expected to stay with the club for another year once contract details have been ironed out.

A one-year deal will allow the loyal Wolves star the chance of a special 20-year Testimonial.

He is currently being put through his paces in pre-season fitness testing with Roper and Chris Causey.
