WARRINGTON Wolves' young guns were taught a lesson by a mighty Australian Schoolboys side in the first Test match at the AutoQuest Stadium in Widnes on Sunday.

The Great Britain and Ireland Young Lions side, which included captain Paul Noone, Steve Kirkbride and Ian Parry, were beaten 24-4 with only the tourists' indiscipline keeping the game tight.

Kirkbride did well to set up a score for Rob Parker but failed with the conversion in a poor second half.

Wolves assistant coach Paul Cullen said: "Paul Noone will have gained important expereince from a full-blooded and aggressive Test match which will stand him in good stead for what he will face in the under 21s side next season.

"But I was disappointed to see Ian Parry and Steve Kirkbride only minimally introduced to the game."
