AS a member of staff at Warrington Hospital, I felt I must reply to Steve Grant's comments (Point of View, December 7).

If you are to believe his accusations, the whole of Warrington Hospital are spineless employees who are afraid to speak up.

I object to this as I know that all the staff at Warrington Hospital do everything they can to help the patients.

Maybe Mr Grant's medical conditions are, as he has been told on numerous occasions, somewhat milder then he imagines.

I know from experience that anxious patients can often believe that their mild complaints are something far more serious and don't believe the professionals when told otherwise.

He is very cynical if he believes that patients with serious medical complaints would be put at risk just to give the appearance of our waiting lists being smaller! What kind of staff does he think we employ at Warrington Hospital?

What's more, he is putting doubt into the minds of thousands of satisfied patients who have been successfully treated at Warrington.

I am sure many of them would stand up and tell of stories of excellent treatment in the hospital.

The reason I feel strongly about this is that I do my best to treat patients with courtesy and to ensure that they are looked after here.

No, I'm not a nurse or a doctor but a medical secretary and I like to think that I do a very vital job. I don't like the insinuation that myself and other staff here would rather look good on paper than treat the patients to the best of their abilities.
