YOUNG cricketers were bowled over by the success of their festive bag-packing fund-raiser.
About 40 members of the junior section of Congleton Cricket Club raised £1,192 in just nine hours at the town's Safeway store.
The youngsters were given donations by shoppers for packing their bags, and the money raised will allow them to buy a bowling machine.
The equipment is automatic, and can be used indoors or outdoors.
''The leds were aged from 10 up, and packed bags from 9am to 6pm on December 30,'' said club chairman Mike Kitton.
''Customers were very generous, and it was an excellent by the juniors.''
