THREE budding young politicians from Warrington stand the chance of having a cup of tea and a chat at 10 Downing Street next month.

The GUARDIAN has teamed up with Helen Jones, MP for Warrington North, to find the lucky trio who will join her for the day.

All hopefuls have to do is write, in up to 100 words, why they want to visit 10 Downing Street.

The opportunity has come about because the Government is in the process of inviting youngsters from every single one of the country's constituencies - including Conservative and Liberal Democrat seats - to go and see the home of the nation's leader.

This is the first time Warrington has been selected for the visit - and a great day lies in store for the winners.

Helen will give the winners a guided tour of the House of Commons before guiding them to Downing Street - where Cherie Blair will be waiting to put the kettle on and have a quick natter.

And if he can fit it into his hectic schedule, hubbie Tony might even pop in for a quick chat too!

A spokesman for Helen Jones said: "The constituency tours aim to give the youngsters the chance to see democracy and citizenship hands-on.

"This is the first time Warrington has been invited - and it should be a terrific day out."

Applicants have to be aged between nine and 13 and live in Warrington North.

Entry letters - marked Downing Street Competition - can be sent to us at The Warrington GUARDIAN, The Academy, 138 Bridge Street, Warrington, WA1 2RU.

Deadline is February 1.
