WOOLSTON Wildcats women's Rugby League team have won an appeal against punishment served on them for fielding an unregistered player.
Wildcats admitted they had mistakenly failed to register Rachel Bishop but were left fuming when Women's Amateur Rugby League Association chiefs deemed five of their current league season games to be losses.
Woolston boss Chris Mawdsley said: "There had obviously been an oversight on our part but the registration secretary of the league is supposed to check through the teams every week.
"Instead the job was not done for five weeks and we had five results taken off us. If the job had been done in the first place we would not have been in that situation."
The two wins handed back to Woolston, including one against arch-rivals Crosfields, leaves them hot on the heels of leaders Wigan again.
