Pavilions 1 Merseyside Police 1 (West Cheshire League Division Two)

A Spectacular late strike from Darren Mayers earned Pavilions a point against a much-improved Merseyside Police side, which defied its lowly league position.

Mark Savage and Eddy Droughton brought great saves out of the visitor's keeper Wilson, but Pavilions' number one Olly Maddock, also produced two stunning saves to keep the score blank.

The first goal came from Gareth Chalmers who, following confusion in the home defence, glided in at the back post to score with ease.

Pavilions created more chances in the second half. Mayers hit the crossbar and Waller put a free kick narrowly wide.

The game took an unfortunate twist when two Merseyside Police players suffered broken legs in two separate incidents. The ambulance was stopped before it left Pavilions complex to treat the second player who dislocated his ankle once play commenced.

A late Mayers strike levelled the game but the result fell to insignificance due to the injuries.

This week Pavilions visit Malpas from the Mid Cheshire League in the Cheshire Amateur Cup First Round, kick off 3pm. Tote winner, K Bolton.
