West Kirby 1 Mond Rangers Reserves 4 (Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division Three)

MOND recorded a thoroughly deserved victory at West Kirby on Saturday with an impressive team performance that produced a hat-full of scoring opportunities.

Young striker Chris Donaghy stole the show with a M.O.M. performance and two goals.

Donaghy put Mond in front early in the game and Scott Howard increased the lead on the half hour by slotting home a right wing cross.

West Kirby pulled a goal back as half time approached but the second half was all Mond. Steve O'Hara scored a spectacular solo goal, beating three defenders in a run from his own half, and then set up a simple chance for Donaghy, who fired over the bar from six yards.

But Donaghy got the final goal of the game in injury time, shooting home from six yards.

Next Saturday Mond entertain Mallaby in the Cheshire Amateur Cup First Round, kick-off 3pm.Rocksavage Power Company has sponsored the game.
