West Bank 14 Hindley 7

THE BANK finally got the win their recent performances have deserved with a good all round team display against Hindley.

Star of the show was M.O.M. Scott Spencer, who scored two superb tries, though standoff Leon Phillips and prop Kevin Droogan were both outstanding.

The Bank struggled to break down the visitors' defence. Good runs from captain Ray Attwood, second-rower Ian Connor and centre Stephen Boscoe went unrewarded, but Spencer eventually broke through and a superb conversion from Boscoe gave the Bank a 6-0 half time lead.

Hindley struggled to get going and settled for a drop goal five minutes into the second half from standoff Coward just to get some points on the board.

The game then swung Hindley's way and although a penalty goal from hooker Liam Johnson steadied the Bank, Hindley scored a converted try which narrowed the gap to just one point with 15 minutes still to play.

Good tackles from Greg Lawrenson, Tony Fillingham, David Murphy and Liam Johnson kept the Bank ahead.

With just two minutes left to play the Bank sealed the game when Spencer raced 40 yards to score a try that Johnson converted.
