IN response to the questions raised by R Walters regarding my charity cycle ride across Vietnam in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, I would like to make the following points:
1. The trip is an annual event organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care to support their work.
2. They state that at least £2,500 must be raised to take part in the event, £1,000 of this covers the cost of the trip to Vietnam.
3. I have paid the £1,000 out of my own pocket.
4. Every penny raised through fundraising events, such as the Holy Family evening, will go directly to the charity.
I feel saddened and disappointed that, having tried to find more effective ways of fundraising than standing with a can outside the Windmill Centre', I find myself accused of trying to fund a trip abroad.
But, most of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported the charity and made the evening at Holy Family such a success.
