THE world famous Manchester Camerata opens the new season of Halton Music Society this week.
They musicians will be performing at the Queens Hall, Widnes at 7.30pm on Friday, September 28.
The word Camerata' was first used in a musical sense in the 16th century, to describe a group of friends who met regularly for concerts and soirees in their own homes.
The essence of this friendship is at the heart of Manchester Camerata, and the congenial atmosphere provides the ideal foundation for performances of a consistently high quality.
The leader of the orchestra will be the highly respected conductor Richard Howarth.
The programme includes Handel's Water Music Suite No 1 in F, Handel's Concerto Grosso Op 6 No 5 in D, Bach's Suite No 1 and Mozart's Symphony No 29 in A K201.
There is a special offer of £20 (£18 concessions) for all five concerts in the forthcoming classical music season.
For further details, please phone Halton Music Society on 0151-424 5256.
Admission on the night is £7.50 (£6 concessions).
