MY aunt and cousin from Massachusetts were recently visiting this country, for a family wedding, when the tragic events in America unfolded. They were both distressed by it all and concerned for their folks back home. Like so many others, they were unable to return home on their planned date and had to extend their stay at The Swan at Winwick. They have asked me to write to you so that through the paper they might offer their thanks for the kindness and consideration showed to them there. This culminated in a generous reduction in their bill because staff there said they had become aware that in parts of the country hotel prices, for stranded Americans, had been increased and that their company wished to make a gesture to show their compassion and support for all Americans.
I too add my thanks, it's good to know we can still have pride in the English.
