CAMPAIGNING residents look to have lost their battle to keep their popular postman.
People living in the Mossley area of Congleton were up in arms at news they were to lose postman Danny Seabridge.
He is due to be replaced by Adrian Austin after a review by Royal Mail of staffing.
Postmen in order of seniority were able to choose which round they wished to do, and Mr Austin chose the Mossley area.
Ann Fullerton from Linksway was one of 200 people who signed a petition aimed at persuading the Royal Mail to allow Mr Seabridge to continue in Mossley.
However area operations manager Paul Berwick wrote back to her to say he could find no reason to prevent Mr Austin taking up the round.
Mrs Fullerton has written back to Mr Berwick highlighting the front page coverage the campaign received in last week's Congleton Guardian.
"Elderly people relied on Danny in so many ways, he was exceptional and we want him back," she said in her letter.
Residents collected £165 for Mr Seabridge as a farewell gift.
