I WISH to register the strongest possible objections to the proposal of a Crewe Alexandra FC Sports Hall at Reaseheath, as reported in your newspaper.
I believe the structure, as conceived, constitutes a hideous eyesore and would be sited in a completely rural setting and therefore is totally inappropriate.
It would be clearly visible from the A51 and ruin the approach to the historic town of Nantwich.
It would attract additional traffic along Wettenhall Road, making it even more hazardous.
Indeed, during the years we have lived here, there have been several accidents along this road, it is also much used by cyclists and horse riders.
The sharp right-angle bend in Wettenhall Road opposite the entrance to the College, would be made even more dangerous due to the proposed building blocking the sight-line through the corner.
Furthermore, the bend cannot be eased or re-structured due to the presence of a large old oak tree right at the apex of the bend, no doubt there would be strong environmental objections were this to be felled for the purpose.
In short, the erection of this structure would be an affront to the whole area. The strength of feeling against the project was demonstrated at the recent well attended public meeting.
