A TEAM of hairdressers from Penketh have been helping Warrington's strongest man shape up to become Mr Universe.

Beefcake Paul Sutton came third in the competition in his hero Arnold Schwarzenegger's home town in Austria last year - and he is hoping to take the championship in Newcastle on October 6.

The competition will involve posing and showing off his muscley physique, and hairdressers from The Shearing Shed at Honiton Square have been trimming, shaving and raising money for the sportsman.

To keep himself in shape Paul sticks to a strict diet of three pounds of meat and potatoes, and 40 egg whites a day! To treat himself, the five foot five inches tall, 14-and-a-half stone bodybuilder, who works at Total Fitness, has a plate of tuna and banana.

To prepare for the competition, the married father-of-one spends two hours a day pumping iron, running the tread mill, and other all-round physical training.

The 36-year-old became interested in bodybuilding when he left school, and has been competing for 17 years.
