REPRESENTATIVES from community projects across Warrington have gathered together to celebrate the third year of the Community Project Initiative.

Members of parish councils, schools, voluntary organisations and community groups, who have been successful in receiving funding this year, met at the Town Hall for a presentation event held by the Direct Services and Housing department.

A total of 27 projects were successful from the 65 who applied for funding and will receive between £200 and £5,000 of the £75,000 to be given this year.

Projects to be funded by the award-winning initiative include the provision of disabled access, public seats, and a series of landscape and environmental improvements.

Peter Connell, Director of Services and Housing, said: "The Community Project Initiative has many benefits, not only has the environment been enhanced but it also improves communication between community groups.

"Though simplistic in its design, the search has achieved real results and demonstrated the local authority's search for best value."
