THE winter season of the Inn Partnership Darts League got under way with some shock results.

It is apparent that Cheshire Cheese could be a real force to be taken into consideration. On Friday night the Cheese were a player short but still won their away match at Hawthorne.

On Monday night they drew at home to Blackburne Arms and it needed a first leg win by George McCormack to salvage a point for the Arms.

Best returns in this week's matches were a nine-darter by Tony Monks for Gas Social at New Alliance and 11-darters by the veteran Billy Warburton for Howley in the win against Imperial and Larry Wells for British Rail at home to Penketh Cons.

Teams are asked to note that delegate meetings have been put on hold until further notice and all business must be conducted on Sundays at Hawthorne between 6.30pm and 7pm, including competition entries and late player registrations.

The latest information regarding Marquis is that they will contact opponents directly on a week-by-week basis regarding venue for their home matches.

All teams should note that players who have signed for more than one team are not eligible to play for any team until cleared by the committee.
