WARRINGTON Athletics Club's women competed in the North West Counties Road Relay Championships in Blackpool on Saturday.

In the under 13s 3x2000m race, Heather Williams' first leg of 8mins 46secs, plus Fay Lawless' 9mins 43secs and Heather Timmins' final leg secured fourth spot overall but first Cheshire team.

Williams had the fourth fastest of all legs and Timmins was sixth best.

The under 15 girls team finished ninth overall but second Cheshire team in the 3x 3000m race. Karina Royden's 15mins 45secs was followed by Rachael Brookes' 16mins 25secs and Susan Chiverton's 14mins 33 secs.

In the senior 3x4000m race, under 20 Katie Brennan's 14mins 53secs, Alison Hartop's 15mins 32secs and junior Jenny Smith's 14mins 48secs earned the team seventh overall and second Cheshire team.
