A STARSTRUCK Widnes teenager has landed one of the leading roles in a smash hit musical at Liverpool's Empire Theatre.

Amy Diamond, of Lynton Crescent, will take to the stage next month as Eva Lawrence in Her Benny, the rags to riches story of two waifs and their struggle for survival on the streets of Victorian Liverpool.

Amy will join a cast of more than 70 in the play, which is based on the book by Silas K. Hocking. It tells the heartbreaking story of Benny Bates and his younger sister Nell. Against the odds Benny fights poverty, crime and injustice to find love, respect and success all through a chance meeting with little Eva.

Amy, 14, is a pupil at SS Peter and Paul High School and is no stranger to the theatre having twice appeared in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Abbamania.

She attends Elliott-Clarke School of Dance and Drama in Liverpool and has performed in panto in Widnes.

She will sing two solo songs during the performance, which runs from Tuesday, February 19 to Saturday, March 2.
