SIR Bob Geldof, Hannah Gordon, The Saw Doctors and the Mr Men are just some of the big names coming to Halton.

The Queens Hall has just announced a new entertainment programme bursting with star attractions, top class music, drama, comedy and children's events.

There's a rare opportunity to see ex Boomtown Rat Bob Geldof perform live on April 11, when he will perform tracks from his first album for five years Sex, Age & Death, written during a heavily documented period in his eventful life.

The show will feature all his greatest hits, including I Don't Like Mondays, Rat Trap and Great Songs of Indifference.

Famous actors Hannah Gordon and Peter Barkworth team up for a nostalgic afternoon. They will perform poetry, prose and party pieces on Sunday, January 27.

Ska legend Pauline Black of The Selectors, backed by punk icons JJ Burnell of The Stranglers, James Burns of Stiff Little Fingers and Steve Diggle of The Buzzcocks, open the new season on Thursday, January 24.

Arthur Smith's West End sell out Live Bed Show is being staged on March 21 and Hull Truck Theatre Company's performance of Gordon Steel's A Pair of Beauties is on April 3.

Traditional music hall, alternative comedy and children's shows promise something to suit everyone.

The new programme is available from the Queens Hall, community centres and libraries or by phoning the box office on 0151-424 2339.
