Aspull 21 Birchfield 10
BIRCHFIELD started slowly and an early error allowed Aspull to score out wide.
Once Birchfield got themselves into the game they started to dominate up front and strong running from Whitty, Bebbington and Potter enabled them to put the hosts under pressure and score an unconverted try through McNicholas.
Birchfield put Aspull under more pressure and received a penalty, which was taken quickly and passed out wide for Whitfield to score.
With five minutes of the first half remaining the hosts attacked the Birchfield line and scored out wide through Ginley, but again missed the conversion attempt.
An Aspull penalty just before the break made the score 13-10 to the home side.
In the second half and with the wind, Aspull put Birchfield back in their own half and eventually Robinson scored an unconverted try out wide.
The visitors then counterattacked but several dubious penalty decisions had them pinned back on their own line again and they gave away another penalty for Robinson to add the three points.
Birchfield travel to Duckinfield this weekend.
