THIS Sunday is Holocaust Memorial Day.

For the second successive year, January 27 has been designated for a special remembrance of people lost during the Holocaust of World War II.

The day is intended to ensure those crimes committed against humanity are never forgotten and that its relevance is understood by generations to come.

Borough mayor, Cllr Terry Beard is urging local people to mark the day by remembering those lost:

"The day will provide an important focus for learning and reflection for us all, whatever our age, to understand the causes of the Holocaust and to think about its consequences."
