CREWE boss Dario Gradi has his sights set on FA Cup success, this weekend.

With two successive wins restoring confidence, Alex fans have every reason to expect a place in the final 16 come 4.50pm on Saturday.

Obviously the league's the priority but there's no doubt that Gradi, like all of us, will be gutted if they don't make the Fifth Round.

"It's a game we've got a good chance of winning," he said.

"I'd rather the last two victories had both been league wins but the cup's important. It's the second biggest competition we're in and it would be nice to have a run in it for the players but even more for the supporters.

"I'll take no consolation in someone saying you can concentrate on the league now and I'll be annoyed if we go out on Saturday.

David Vaughan, Geoff Thomas and David Wright all picked up knocks in last Saturday's 2-0 victory over Grimsby and will have checks before the clash at Millmoor.

"We hope Vaughan will be fit for Saturday but we don't know with Geoff. It looks like a hamstring and I think he's been carrying it for a while."

Rob Hulse should be in contention after recovering from a groin problem and both Dave Walton and Phil Charnock were expected to make this week's Cheshire Senior Cup clash at Stalybridge Celtic to step up their chances of a return.

Back to the Grimsby game, the Alex boss felt it was a good indicator of just how much progress the team has made in their play.

"What does look better is that we've started picking up wins. I think the team is looking stronger.

"We've certainly had more ball than we've ever had lately and we've been making more chances. We've got to get the team capable of staying out of relegation trouble.

"There are a couple of players who are starting to emerge now even though they are from the younger ones.

"Lunt has also taken a step forward recently along with Sodje. We've just got to get those forwards better.

"We've got three in Hulse, Ashton and Jack. Taity looks the part in training and we've got Colin Little, Paul Edwards and John Grant but none of them are pushing anywhere near those first three."
