Poulton Vic's Res 1 Pavilions 1

(Carlsberg West Cheshire Division Two)

PAVILIONS totally dominated this game and were grateful to Jay Clegg who scored an 88th minute equaliser to secure a point after some woeful finishing.

Within the first 10 minutes, Daz Mayer's pace, aided by some flowing midfield play from Darren Moore and Eddie Droughton, saw Pavilions' off-form striker miss three one-on-one chances.

And the luckless Weston Point outfit went behind when Vic's first corner of the game was emphatically headed home by centre half Ian Brunt.

The response was impressive but once again cruel luck went against Pavilions. A thunderous drive from Droughton smacked the crossbar and bounced out to Andy Gott whose reaction header also thumped the crossbar to leave Poulton Vic's goal in tact.

Carl Littler was more or less a spectator apart from the odd clearance, but when called up on he supplied a stunning reflex save to deny Pavilion's centre half Richard Atkinson from scoring an own goal following a lightening raid from the hosts.

With Gott striking the post late on and a tormenting cross evading both Mark Savage and substitute Ste Castleman, it seemed likely that Pavilion's trip home would be without reward.

But when Droughton's drive forward fell to Savage, he showed great awareness to thread the ball through to midfielder Clegg who screwed his shot into the bottom corner to give Pavilions a share of the spoils.

Tote winner was K Bolton.
