THIS quality-filled album from San-Francisco-based rockers BRMC is a prelude to their forthcoming debut UK tour.

The dark and psychedelic rockers appear at Liverpool University on February 1 and Manchester University on February 2.

The album is a cross between rock and indie, with some songs plummeting down on the rock side and some featureing the more whining style of indie.

There is even a fast and hard-hitting punk rock tune thrown in for good measure.

The band is made up of three guys, who seem to be dressed in a permanent shade of black. Peter Hayes plays guitar, bass, keys and sings, as does Robert Turner. Nick Jago occupies the drums and percussion.

Filled with some pretty solid and catchy tunes and a mixture of slow and fast tracks the album should have something for most lovers of the genre.

Highlights include 'Love Burns', which has just been released as a single. The 'Whatever Happened To My Rock 'N' Roll - punk song' is another good track as are the more indie styled 'Head Up High' and also 'Spread Your Love', a song in a mixture of styles.

The music is obviously guitar based, but some excellent riffs and the appropriate and sparing use of acoustic makes for a good quality album, with way more than the one good track.
